Born to well-known theatre personalities Bhargavi Narayan and Make-up Nani, theatre was part of her childhood. She has acted in Kailasm plays, Parvatvani plays, Mukhya Mantri by Kalagangotri and Nagamandala directed by the late Shankar Nag. Acted in movies as a child artiste. Kaadu and Bhootaiyana Maga Ayyu. Came back to films after marriage through Thayi Saheba, directed by Girish Kasaravalli which won the Swarna Kamal. Also acted in Mathadana, Paris Pranaya, Mungaru Male, Meera Madhava Raghava, Krishna, Yuga, Galipata, Moggina Manassu, Hudugaru, First Rank Raju etc. Started acting in television after she quit her job. Garva, Manvanthara, Yava Janmada Maitri, Mane ondu mooru Bagilu, Manthana, Minchu, Shubhamangala, Mahaparva, Srirasthu Shubamasthu and Magalu Janaki are few of the serials she has acted in.
Ms. Belawadi is married to M.G.Sathya, an advertising professional who makes commercials/adfilms. He won the Zee Cine Award for the best story for Swades directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar who was nominated for Oscars for his movie Lagaan. She has a daughter, Samyukta Hornad who is also into acting and a son, Shantanu who is doing his 2nd year MSc in Physics.
